Winter Wonderland of Doom

Everywhere was ice. Not one inch of green, one inch of colorful flowers. Ice. Slick, clear ice. The sky had turned a frosty white to match with the earth below, and promised snow later on. But when didn't it? It was always so cold out, chilling enough to give a citizen frostbite just for standing out a couple minutes.

Oh, how Spider ached for the sun to melt the frozen wasteland! But the ebony hedgehog knew how big that wish really was. Though he liked the snow, it had crossed the line for too much long ago. A simple snow day turned torture. Now, the once beautiful green forest had turned into.. What, a winter wonderland of doom?

He sighed and pawed at the ice with his foot as he walked. He was wearing his baggy jeans and red shoes only. And since his fur was so thick, it was hard for him to get cold. But even Spider shivered every once in a while. Was the planet doomed to freeze over? It seemed just like a big horror movie. His eyes traveled from frozen tree to frozen tree, craving to see the green again. It was so long ago...

The black-and-silver hedgehog shook his head to clear the thoughts. Nothing but distant childhood memories. Good ones... But not ones he needed. He was getting use to the fact that it wouldn't be like that again. Really, he was alright with the bitter cold, but.. It was so boring.

"Such a shame..." he murmured, stopping to stroke a frostbitten tree. It was so cold that a shiver ran down his spine.

If only, just a little warmth... If not for me... He sighed.

"Something wrong?" A female voiced called out to Spider. A gray cat was standing on the branch of a frozen tree, staring down at Spider grinning, a green bracelet of flowing energy revoling around her wrist, floating around it.

"Can we have some fun...?" Relka ask, grinning darkly and jumping off the tree. Landing a few feet in front of Spider, she had this kind of twisted evil smile, like she wanted to hurt him.

Spider backed away a little from the cat, startled. I mean, a she-cat suddenly popped out of nowhere! Wouldn't you be surprised?

"Huh?" He tilted his head to the side and stared at her strangely. He hadn't ever seen her before. What, was this the freak part of the forest? What's with this cat? He backed up further from the odd cat. "Umm..? Sure...?"

He didn't dare say no to such a creepy cat. Instead, his thoughts were all, O____o

What kinda girl suddenly jumps down from a tree and gives you an evil look?

"heheheh..." She unsheathed her claws, which were a little longer than normal and glowing with green energy, she dashed towards Spider, jumping over him and landing behind him, turning around and slashing out for his back.

"It's time for a little game!!"

The hedgehog yelped as he was scratched in the back. He jumped around and glared at her. "Wha.. What are you doing?!? I don't even know... You!" He held out his hand, in which a scythe suddenly appeared. But he didn't want to hurt her back, maybe just frighten her off. He gripped the handle firmly and held it up threateningly at the she-cat. "What did I do to you?!?"

Guessing that she wouldn't answer seriously, he growled, "How about the game of 'the cat gets outta here and leaves the hedgehog alone or she gets her butt kicked'?" He was a little harsher than he meant to be, though he wasn't use to being verbally cruel. Better now than never.

She laughed, her grin only getting wider. 'Your threating me? What, are you gonna hurt me? I'm much older than you... Stronger too..." The bracelet on her wrist pulsed, she rolled her eyes at the sight of the sycthe.

Relka took a step towards him. "Why don't you run, and I won't destroy you?"

Spider stood his ground, which was alot since he was usually a coward. He leaned against his weapon and glared at her. "Why waste your time destroying me? I'll probably die anyway," he told her, the anger in his voice replaced by amusement. Destruction can only go to a limit... He smirked. But that's not the point here..

[[Nah, it's okay.]]

"Why? Because! Heheheh, it's fun... Leaving nothing left of someone's body... Erasing them..." Relka dashed towards Spider again, ignoring the fact that he had a sycthe, a pretty dangerous weapon, through really good for farming.

When she was within range she slashed out at him again.

Flinching as the cat cut his arm, he managed to keep himself together. But who knows how long that would last? Can't I ever stand up for myself? He clutched his scythe dearly, not planning on using it anytime soon. If I'm gonna die, I don't want to die in the hands of some psycho cat that jumped out from nowhere!

"Why me?" Spider's voice squeaked a little. Stumbling backward, he ended up backing against a bitter-cold icy tree, which made him shiver. And at least snowing...

Stop it! I'm not going to die anytime soon! Well, I hope not, anyway..

Relka stopped, almost as if she read his mind. "Why you...? Heh, why not? This is my way of having fun, and if you want to live... You should defend yourself!" She slashed out at snow, sending a bunch of it flying towards Spider as a distraction.

'Come on and play!"

The ebony coward shook his fur to get the snow off. Ugh. This girl is crazy! He sighed and held up his scythe, not with much agression. "Whatever. All I wanted was a walk in the forest." He frowned and gripped his scythe harder. "Too late for that, I suppose?"

Through she was pretty close to him, but not in range of his sycthe. The bracelet around her wrist had expanded into a gaint ring composed of green and blue energy like sections, a few beams charing up in the center. 'When this hits... Your gonna feel your body and soul get hurt, your not gonna die... Or burn, or even get scratched,.. But you will feel PAIN!"

Four beams fired, one at ground level aiming for his legs, two coming from the sides and one going around then downwards for his head, she just smiled.

Spider's eyes widened. The only thing he could think of doing was dodging out of the way. It worked, but one of the beams came dangerously close to his arm. Scrambling to get up, he backed away from the girl and grabbed his weapon, which was on the ground. "Okay, look, I don't know what your problem is, but..." He winced.

I can either run or fight...

Yeah... He turned around and bounded off, not looking back to check if she was following. I'm such a coward... but she was going to kill me!!!

Relka just laghed running after Spider, her bracelet spinning in it's expanded form and charging up again. 'I'm not gonna kill you! It's just gonna hurt you... I wouldn't kill someone like you!!" She fired again, but this time... It was different, the beams were larging and there was more of them.

They scattered in hundreds of directions, curving across the ground, going past trees, through the sky above, of just flowing normally... Then, they all turned, heading for one person... Their target...

Spider looked back just in time to see nearly a hundred beams right on his tail. At first, he didn't notice that they had hit him. He didn't feel anything. But then there was pain... So much pain...

Spider collapsed to the ground, letting out nothing but a whimper. He had never been in a lot of pain before, not to mention this much. It lasted only a couple moments. Just a couple of moments of the feeling like he was getting shred to pieces. After, he just lay in the snow on his back.

All he felt was the bitter cold and himself shivering.
